Picture 469...

HEY!!

GET OVER HERE!

LOOK AT ME!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?

You thought you could get away with it, didn’t you?

WELL I SAW YOU WHAT YOU DID….

You didn’t give me money on my birthday.

This is a crime in these lands.

YOU MUST ACCEPT THE PUNISHMENT!

You must listen to me make pun jokes for an hour.

I was wondering why the ball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.
I tried to catch the fog, I mist.
Two windmills are standing in a wind farm. One asks, “What’s your favorite kind of music?” The other says, “I’m a big metal fan.”
My bike won’t stand up, it’s too tired.
My dad farted in an elevator, it was wrong on so many levels.
When life gives you melons, you're dyslexic.
It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH?!?!?

Good.

Think about what you did.

Anyways….

What was the point of this?

OH YEAH!

YELLOW!!

This is the start of the Yellow Project.

YES!

It’s finally happening.

Here’s some back story.

I’ve done some colors in the past.

Red and blue.

I’ve even done yellow before for a high school project, but ignore that.

I wanted to do a new color project, but didn’t know which one to do.

If I was sticking with primary colors, I’d go with green.

But the world is green.

It’s bee to easy.

So I thought about re-doing the yellow project that I did in high school.

Only this time, I’d do it a little better.

I started this back in March.

I was planning things out and getting ready when everything shut down.

It all stopped.

The world was in chaos.

The end was upon us…..

….. so we thought.

It took a lot of time but things calmed down.

We eventually got to the point where we realized this wasn’t going away any time soon.

So, I continued the project.

However, going there all this chaos drained me.

I didn’t want to do anything.

I ended up having to break one of my rules.

Back in the day, I was doing this weekly.

On many occasions, it’d get to the day when I upload a photo and I would have one.

Then I’d go out and force myself to make one, rush it, and it’s bad.

I created a rule that these photos would happen when things happen.

If I had something I wanted to create and share, then I would.

It got to the point where I realized I was going to end up doing nothing this year.

So I broke the rule and forced something.

Doing that usually doesn’t end well.

This time it was different.

It got that spark back inside me.

“I made something!”

“WHAT ELSE COULD I DO?!?”

That lead me to re-building the blog and this website.

I started to create again.

But the world was still having issues in June when I made that initial photo.

So I still had to wait.

I made my birthday photo, I kept working on this website, I started my store.

I kept doing things to keep the drive going.

We got to the point where it was time.

This crazy year was becoming normal.

It was time to get out and do something.

Thus, the yellow project continued.

Now we can talk about the project finally.

I was still getting out into the world for my job.

People are still selling houses and those houses need some photos!

That was pretty much the only time I was out in the world.

While I was out there, I kept an eye out for yellow.

If I’d see something, I would log it.

I took a screenshot of my GPS of where I was with a note about what I saw.

So I had a nice list of yellowy things.

And as time went on, I realized something.

Things were turning more and more…. YELLOW.

IT WAS FALL.

I STARTED THIS IN AT THE BEGINNING OF SPRING!

So, I shifted my plan again.

What if I wait a little bit for the fall colors.

These places that I logged usually had trees or something.

Those would look better in the fall.

So I waited a little longer and now were are at today.

This project is done.

The video, the photos, everything is done and ready.

That’s also another rule.

I don’t start uploading a project until it is 100% complete.

The video is rendered ready to upload and the photos are saved.

That rule caused a bit of a delay.

You’ll see when I talk about the video at the end of this post.

So…. NOW WE CAN TALK ABOUT THE PHOTO.

This photo was actually shot in the middle of the project.

It almost didn’t happen.

One day, the clouds were looking cool.

I love clouds.

If you look at my store of photos you can buy, they are clouds.

In fact, some of those cloud photos were shot when I shot this photo.

I wanted to do and capture some nice cloud stuff.

I thought about going out to this housing development that’s down in a valley.

It’s up on a hill that drops down, so you can get a nice view of the sky without and trees.

Before I left, I thought…

“I am doing the yellow project, I’ll put on a yellow shirt.”

My mindset was that if they did look cool enough, maybe I could get me and the clouds.

As you can tell by the photo, that plan worked!

Not at first, though.

I got back home after the shoot and loved what I saw.

Here’s the original photo…

LOOKS GREAT!

But then the next day…. The clouds were even more epic!

More moody, there were more dark spots.

Loads of contrast.

So I rushed back out to the same spot and got this…

Same thing, but better.

Before I left, I don’t why I thought to do this.

I just did it, without thinking.

I did one with me facing the sun, but at an angle.

I didn’t try too hard with that one, I wasn’t even centered correctly...

I was going to go with the side profile one anyway.

When I got home, I was thinking of which one photo to work on.

It was between the two that I showed above.

So whenever I can’t decide, there’s only one option.

THE AUNT!

Right now, my Aunt is down with her Aunt.

She did this last year and I had to stay at her house to watch the dog for four months.

This time, she took the dog!

So I didn’t have to do anything this year.

Anyway, I asked which one was better.

I sent those two, and just for giggles, I sent the one with me facing the sun.

I didn’t think she’d pick it, but I wanted a variety.

I waited………

……………

……….

……

.

So answered back and shocked me!

SHE PICKED THE ONE WITH ME FACING THE SUN!

The one I put the least amount of work into.

The one I actually wasn’t trying to get!!!

So then I rushed to someone else.

I felt betrayed.

That wasn’t supposed to be the answer!

I went to my mom.

She looked and instantly picked… THE SAME ONE!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HAPPENING?!?

I was confused.

Lost.

Am I that good that I can just random snap a photo and people will like it no matter what?

I sat.

I pondered.

I realized.

It was the obvious choice.

They didn’t like me looking away from the sun.

Looking into the shadows.

Into the darkness.

They wanted me going towards the light!!

GOOD LORD!

I SEE IT!!

MY EYES HAVE BEEN OPENED!!

Long story short, I went with that one.

TO THE EDITING.

I didn’t have to do much.

I need to crop it first, but it was off-center.

Then I just cranked up the contrast to make it moodier.

Then I thought, it’s the yellow project.

IT NEEDS MORE YELLOW.

So I selected some of the white parts of the clouds to color shifted them yellow.

Lastly, I added a yellow tent to my white sleeves to connect them with the lighting of the sky.

To help tie everything together I should say, throughout the photo.

AND BOOM!

It was complete.

COMPARE!

Hover your mouse (the computer one) over the original picture to see the after editing one.

If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

That compared the lighting changed I did to make things more moody.

Now compare the changes I made to make every YELLOW!

NOW COMPARE EVERYTHING!!

Then I cropped the photo, but we don't need to compare that.

Doesn’t it look nice.

I think it’s a good start to the project, it lets you know what you’re getting into right away.

Anyways.

THAT’S ALL I’VE GOT…. For now.

This is part 1 of 6.

So there’s a lot more to come.

Next week, I’ll start uploading the video.

The video was 15 hours unedited.

A half a year’s with of random clips that were for the yellow video.

It took me so long to sort everything and edit things down.

I got it down to an hour and a half.

I cut out a lot of stuff about the lockdown and whatnot.

Mostly about when it was going to end.

Throughout these months, I recorded little updates with any changes.

“Things are opening back up, we are getting back to normal.”

I said that six months ago.

Things still aren’t normal.

It’s old news at this point to react to anything about this outbreak.

All the news happened months ago and now it’s just become normal.

I’m moving on.

Normally, I’d just upload the whole video at this end of this project.

But since we have 6 photos, I decided to split up the video into 5 parts.

Each getting longer and longer.

Next week will be part one.

SO COME BACK NEXT WEEK!
