OI!

WHY ARE YOU HERE?!?!?

LEAVE!

SHOO!!

PSPSPSPSPSPSPSPS

._.

I was getting into character.

If I’m grumpy in the photos, I must be grumpy here.

Maybe not.

Anyways, things have been… interesting.

Some more things have happened with the family.

Many things happening at once.

Up here and down with the grandparents in Indy.

A lot of things on my mind.

Speaking of the grandparents, I noticed something today.

I mention this in the video for this series at some point.

I can’t remember which part it is in.

Anyways, my grandma passed away 10 years ago.

A decade.

(A day later)

Hi, so I started this post yesterday.

Everything was uploaded and ready to go.

But I just couldn’t get myself to finishing this blog post.

I wanted a day to just rest and reflect.

I’ve been so busy these past few days.

Even on my day off.

I just needed a day for myself.

So that’s what I did.

It’s now early the next day.

I’m an hour away from home.

I have an hour until I have to leave for my next shoot which is on the way home.

So I’m just sitting in a church parking lot.

No distractions from getting this post done.

It’s been a whole decade.

That’s a long time.

I’ve been doing these photos for 13 years….

That’s also a long time.

I always wonder what both grandparents would think of me.

They didn’t get a chance to see me shine to my full potential.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can do to get their opinion.

I can’t just call them on the phone and ask.

Life moves on.

Speaking of moving on!

It’s photo time.

The series continues.

Now, I begin my journey.

WHERE AM I GOING?!?!

WHERE WILL I END UP?!?!

The world may never know…. For about a week until the next part.

Then you’ll know!

I’ve wanted to do a “walking down a road” photo with the drone.

Top-down style.

That’s a unique perspective.

And since the last photo was a top-down shot, it was fitting to do another.

So, I drove out to my aunt's house.

I needed a prop for the next photo.

So, I raided her house looking for something useful.

Well, I was on the way there, I took notes on the roads I saw.

Is it dirt?

Does it look good?

Is it a busy road?

Which way is it going?

So on and so on.

The direction matter because I wanted to see my shadow.

I wanted it to look like my shadow was walking down the road and not me.

I remember doing an aerial shoot at a house a week or two prior that was down the road from my aunts.

It was a long dirt road and since I could do that aerial shoot without any issues, I could do this shoot as well.

The aunt lives around an airport, so it can be a bit tricky to fly.

Now that I had the destination, I just had to get out and do it!

It was pretty straightforward.

The drone went up, I got the shot, the drone came down.

The editing is what made this photo come together.

I was going to just be a normal photo.

But as I was editing this photo, the whole aesthetic of the series popped into my mind.

The usage of black and white and all that.

I decided that this one was going to be a transitional photo.

I’m going from one place to another.

I’m trying to break out of the gloom.

WILL I MAKE IT?!?!!?

Back to the editing, there are a lot of things going on behind the scenes in the photo.

There are four layers blending together.

One black and white, one faded with a gradient, one normal, and one more saturated than normal.

I’M GOING TOWARDS THE SATURATION!

That’s really all I did.

Maybe some overall changes like a little contrast and whatnot.

COMPARE ALL THE CHANGES!

Hover your mouse (the computer one) over the original picture to see the changes I did.

If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

ONTO THE VIDEO!

The series continues with more life updates.

Me getting a new 4K monitor and the 4th of July shenanigans.

The video after this is when I really get into getting this project started.

But until then, more randomness.

You can click here to watch the video or just watch it below…

THAT’S ALL!

Come back next week for the continuation!

I might upload it sooner, like Thursday.

Maybe even Wednesday.

We’ll see.
