Picture 481...

HELLO THERE!

I’m just chillin’ with a bowl of CoCoa Puffs.

I’m talking about the cereal and not the…. Oh never mind.

Things have been pretty calm.

Nothing exciting report.

The grandparents are doing fine.

I think I heard some intel about the grandfather getting to come home soon.

We’ll see next week.

OH!

There were some storms the past two nights.

I was adventurous during one of them and drove to an overlook spot to see the lightning.

I had my two DSLR cameras and a bunch of batteries.

I was ready to get some nice video.

AND I DID.

I wanted some slo-mo of the lightning.

I didn’t have the GoPros or slo-mo cam.

So, I used my phone.

It can get to 240fps at 720p.

That’s not that bad.

Here’s what I got!

ISN’T THAT NEAT?!?!?!

Lightning isn’t one big strike, it’s multiple little zaps.

I should edit some more storm videos and get them uploaded.

They are wasting space on my hard drive.

I’ll get to it eventually.

Anyways, enough talk.

LOOK AT THE PHOTO!

AMAZING!

Then, I was suddenly outside.

And I’ve found it!

I can feel this sensation flowing through me.

WHAT’S HAPPENING?!?!

Could the gloominess finally be over!?!?!

MAYBE!!

Moving on.

This photo was the key photo.

I had shot the first two photos and the ending photo at the beginning of the project.

I need a bridge between them.

So I came up with the photo of me walking down the road.

Ok, now I was looking for something.

I still needed the moment when the color finally starts to flow onto me to have it tie with the ending photo.

This whole time I was seeking SATURATION.

That’s the story.

So I thought of this.

I’m wandering and found a flower.

I FOUND THE SATURATION.

And thus, the series was complete.

I have my story.

Like the last photo, this all came together in the edit.

On its own, I’m just holding a flower.

I’ve done that before.

But once I got it into Photoshop, that’s when it all transformed.

This photo had so many layers.

The background wasn’t blurry enough, so I made its own layer and blurred it more.

I had to make the flower pink, it was originally red.

So that’s another layer because I didn’t want that to affect the rest of the photo.

Then I had my arms slowly become saturated with their own layer.

The photo stopped there when I first edited it.

Here’s what it looked like.

But then I felt like it wasn’t conveying the story enough.

I WANTED MORE SATURATION!

So I had the color flow up my arms and onto my pink shirt.

My pink shirt is also its own layer.

It wasn’t pink enough so I separated it out and cranked up that pink.

Finally, the photo was complete.

COMPARE ALL THE CHANGES!

Hover your mouse (the computer one) over the original picture to see the changes I did.

If you're on a touchscreen device, just tap on the picture. You may have to tap more than once.

It’s lovely.

It might be my favorite.

WONDERFUL!

ONTO THE VIDEO!

The video covers me really getting into the project.

Figuring out the story and how it all connects.

I also show off my 4K monitor.

You can click here to watch the video or just watch it below…

That’s it.

The series is almost done.

Next week is the last photo.

HOW WILL IT ALL CONCLUDE?!?!?

TUNE IN NEXT TIME!
